Carriers of Peace and Glad Tidings

We are all given the same mandate. It just comes in different forms.

“... As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

Romans 10:15

Jesus Christ is the great equalizer. There is no tier system. There is no segment of society that is not welcome. All are welcome at the foot of the cross. Praise Jesus! Chains of oppression come in many forms. Apathy, disillusionment, anger, bitterness, discouragement, judgement, or indifference; these are all very real chains that we sometimes don’t think of that way. True freedom is found in Christ alone. We have a responsibility to bring Jesus to the world.

We must champion the Body of Christ. In order to bring the Gospel to the world, we need many people, with many gifts. God knows what He is doing, and we need Lo see that, just as with the human body there are many parts with many unique functions, that is the way we should see the Body of Christ. Anchor in the confidence that Jesus is the head. He is the leader. When we listen to the Master, His will is made manifest. Our desire to listen to the voice of the Lord comes out of a posture of love. As we see Jesus, as we experience His love for us, the desire of the soul comes in alignment with that of the spirit to yield in obedience to His will. His will is perfect.

I say all of this with Isaiah 52 and Romans 10 in mind. Isaiah 52 is talking about the redemption of Israel and Romans 10 is talking about salvation being offered to both Jew and Gentile. “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who proclaims peace, who brings glad tidings of good things, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, ‘Your God reigns’” (Isaiah 52:7)! Isaiah is prophesying the entry of the King of kings and Lord of lords to Jerusalem for redemption of the nation of Israel. Paul, in Romans, is reflecting on the same passage. He is adding revelation that the Gentiles are included in this redemption. The question then becomes, how do we enlarge the body of believers? “For ‘whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.’ How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things’”(Romans 10: 13-15)!

There are so many needs in society. Different global regions have different specific needs, but regardless of the region, everyone, everywhere needs the gospel of peace and glad tidings of good things! Whether you are in a bomb shelter in Ukraine, your village in Nigeria was just raided by extremists, your church in the hills of India was just burned down by radicals, you are in the West dealing with the societal pressures of Atheism, you are the victim of human trafficking, or you are trapped in a mentality of religion living a miserable existence, you need peace and glad tidings!

The world needs willing vessels to ‘Go’. That can mean your neighborhood or another nation. We are all given the same mandate. It just comes in different forms. Be a carrier of peace and glad tidings. Let it show in not only how you act, but also what you say. How will they believe unless they hear?
