Samaritan’s Corner had the incredible privilege to co-sponsor a Christmas Outreach in the nation of El Salvador with Iglesia Bethel Church and Smiles From Heaven to the Children of the World Foundation. El Salvador is located between Guatemala and Honduras on the Pacific Coast and is the smallest and most densely populated country in Central America, with an annual average income of only $3,500 per family. Forty percent of the population is made up of children and fifty percent of them live in extreme poverty. Our heart with this project was to reach out to these children and show them the love of Jesus at Christmas.
Our outreach began in the town of Santa Rosa De Lima where over 2,000 children gathered from around the region to come to our event. We were able to tell them about Jesus and give each child a toy, bagged meal and then a firework show. Many of the children who came that night had never received a Christmas gift before and did not have toys, so it was so touching to be able to bless them in this way. The next night we travelled to San Miguel, where we continued the second day of our outreach project. We had around 1,000 children from the area show up that night to receive gifts and a meal.
Our prayer is that these children will always remember the churches where they received these gifts and the good news of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that they heard there!
