Samaritan’s Corner Project

April 3rd, 2013

This month’s Shake The Nations Samaritan’s Corner Project was inspired by the passage found in:

Matthew 25:37-40:

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Our project this month was to put together toiletries packets for the homeless living in a shelter. In these packets, we supplied personal hygiene items, toiletries, and Christian literature. Our prayer is that while helping to supply personal items needed, that the individuals receiving these packets will have their hearts open wide to receive the Gospel message.

Shake The Nations wanted to begin the New Year joining with a Christian Organization that serves to change lives. World Vision makes it easy to give gifts to families in third world countries and serves to make a difference in poor and needy families around the world. Our goal was to purchase animals that will be used by the families to provide: milk, cheese, eggs, and yogurt rich in protein that will provide nutritious meals year round. Our gift of fruit trees and 17 farm animals will go toward this vision of building a better world for children. We encourage you to join with us this year and give a gift that truly matters.

This was Shake The Nations second year to participate in the WKRG Channel 5 Toy Drive! The donated toys will be distributed by the Salvation Army to individual families and charitable organizations throughout the Gulf Coast region this Christmas. These gifts will help make a difference in many families who are needy and could not provide gifts for their children this Christmas. We are thankful for this opportunity to share the love of Christ this Christmas with those who are in need in our community.
